48 hours in Algarve, Portugal

A short blog today. As was this trip. Short, but lovely.

Psssst, there’s an announcement at the end of this blog. I am super excited to share it!

Algarve is the south region of Portugal and has the best cliffs and rock formations I have seen so far. It is my favourite part of Portugal, although I haven’t visited the north yet.

Geeky note, as always: All images shot with a Nikon F3 and Nikkor 35mm f/2 on Kodak Gold. Scanned on Fuji Frontier SP500.

First image of the blog is the hotel we stayed in. It had a picturesque Tuscan vibe and a pool. Don’t mind the ugly garden light ruining my composition. :)

There are multiple walking paths in Algarve that take you alongside the stunning beaches and cliffs. While walking on one of those paths, I couldn’t manage to turn off my street photography passion and I took this frame. I wanted to capture the two ladies on their phones, but I really like the guy’s “What the hell are you doing?” look.

Hmm… But does this crop work better? I think it does. It brings more attention to the guy on the right and the people on the left didn’t really contribute to the composition or the story. And we can still see the beach at the back.

Three more images from that short walk…

The second day we visited Carvoeiro to get breakfast. This cute little town was a nice morning thing to see.

Here are some random not so great shots from different locations, that still have something I like about them. :)

  1. Wawiii is that green sexy in that gorgeous light!

  2. A heart. Just cute.

  3. I like the different colors on the beach. Sidenote: Why are people still sunbathing in the middle of the day in the strongest sun, sometimes even if they are completely sunburnt already? I will never understand that.

We also went to see a WorldSBK race. For most of you, that means nothing. It’s racing with motorbikes. It was happening while we were there, so we went to see the race. Here are a few shots from the racetrack. But first, the umbrella trilogy. :)

Actually, I shot mostly umbrellas… Well, at least I’ll show you a panorama from the stands, stitched from multiple images.

I like this next one. Again, my street photography eye kicked in and I had to capture this guy wearing a green shirt, sticking out of the soil like all the other green trees around.

And for the end I have to show you one of my favourite places in Europe, Cabo de Sāo Vicente. No words can describe just how majestic, beautiful and powerful this place feels. It is the most south-western point of Europe. A beautiful sunset location with huge cliffs and waves showing the power of the sea. Just WOW!

As always, thanks for taking the time to look at this blog. :)

Now, I would like to share with you A BIG announcement (Yes, all caps big!): I am starting a newsletter!!!

In the newsletter, I will be sharing shorter reflections and my everyday thoughts, more images with behind the scene stories, updates from personal projects and reminders, when new blogs are posted. :) Let’s stay connected!
